Caterpillar is seeking a 3rd shift Quality Manager in Sanford, NC. In this role, you will guide a diverse team of Quality Auditors and Product Quality Technicians and ensuring collaboration with Purchasing, Supplier Development and Suppliers, focused on the quality of incoming components.   • Providing guidance and direction for a team that owns and executes quality audits throughout the production processes, incoming quality audits (IQA), CMM lab, and calibration processes.
  • Setting budget requirements, implementing cost saving projects, forecasting production needs and ensuring quality standards are maintained.
  • Implementing/supporting various corporate initiatives such as 5S, Lean Manufacturing, 6 Sigma, Internal Certification, etc.
  • Supporting development of quality assurance strategies, processes, guidelines and control plans which assure quality and reliability of manufactured products.
  • Leading the development and implementation of corrective action and preventive measures to achieve quality targets.
  • Investigating and addressing trends with internal and external non-conformance.
  • Leading, managing and developing multiple teams, team leaders, quality specialists and inspectors to assure that quality standards are met.
  • Developing and reviewing reports to review with quality assurance, production, management, and engineering personnel to solve quality issues.
  • Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
  • Knowledge of the concepts, principles and techniques of root cause analysis (RCA); ability to use a structured approach to identify the causes of undesirable consequences in a manufacturing environment and the changes needed to prevent recurrences.
  • Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
  • Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR applicable experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 3 years of direct leadership experience OR 3 years of proven leadership through projects and initiatives.
  • A demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of people and collaborate across functional areas in a facility.
  • A working knowledge of quality management systems.
  • Project management background.
  • Demonstrated focus on people, quality, velocity, and cost.
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills along with an understanding of how to leverage LEAN principles toward continuous improvement.
