About The Position

The 3rd Shift Public Safety Dispatcher at Augustana College is responsible for providing dispatch services and support to the college community. This role is essential for maintaining safety and security on campus, operating 24/7 to respond to calls, monitor alarms, and coordinate emergency responses. The dispatcher will work in a team environment, ensuring effective communication and quick decision-making during emergencies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong proficiency in utilizing desktop PCs and Microsoft Office products.
• Ability to remain calm during emergency and stressful situations.
• Ability to make decisions with limited supervision and under extreme time constraints.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of colleagues, students, and campus visitors.
• Ability to work efficiently with frequent interruptions.

Responsibilities

• Answer calls received at the switchboard and route them to the appropriate party or dispatch security officers.
• Monitor fire alarms and respond according to College policy and protocol.
• Monitor camera feeds and react to situations as necessary.
• Call in facilities service personnel and other Augustana employees for emergencies or as instructed.
• Answer emergency calls and notify appropriate internal and external parties as specified by College policy and protocol.
• Send electronic notifications via E2 Campus system to alert the campus community of safety concerns.
• Issue visitor and temporary parking passes and check in contractors.
• Perform additional administrative support duties as requested.
