  • 6 months' experience as a Press Department First Helper.
  • 6 months' experience in the Press and Finishing Department.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the timely and accurate completion of job duties.
  • Locate all materials necessary for the next job, including plates, ink, and stock.
  • Prepare the first load of the next job and remove ink from fountains.
  • Remove plates and zero clamps as part of the setup process.
  • Wash ink fountains and rollers, and clean wash-up trays.
  • Clear catwalks of all materials and fill all containers and bottles for wash-up.
  • Remove pull-out sheets or set up sheets, strap units, and properly tag for recycling.
  • Empty carts and trash, and clean plate cylinder, bears, and clamps.
  • Clean impression cylinder and cylinder bearers, and wipe off electric eyes on feeder.
  • Adjust feeder and stock, and register per operating procedures.
  • Set feeder head, feedboard, side-guide, and 2 sheet trip, and check press settings.
  • Run 3 blank sheets through the press and monitor sheet travel for corrections.
  • Obtain approval from the pressman and prepare the second load of stock.
  • Fill ink fountains and roll up inkers lightly, correcting feeder and stock register settings if necessary.
  • Set skeleton wheels and anti-marking devices, and help maintain point quality throughout the run.
  • Keep water tanks full and maintain proper pH and conductivity.
