About The Position

The 3rd Shift Maintenance Multicraft Technician at Perdue Farms is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, calibrations, repairs, and installations on machinery within the facility. This role requires expertise in troubleshooting various electrical and mechanical systems and responding to emergency breakdowns while adhering to safety regulations. The technician will also provide training to lower-level mechanics and may lead a team, ensuring efficient operation and maintenance of equipment.

Requirements

  • Vocational/technical school or equivalent training for 3-4 years in maintenance classification requirements.
  • 4 plus years of experience in maintenance roles.
  • Reading, writing, and analytical skills are required.
  • Must have personal tools and be able to use and operate hand tools and industrial shop equipment.
  • Knowledge of math related to performing maintenance activities.
  • Ability to make correct calculations for mechanical, electrical, or electronic maintenance repairs.
  • Ability to verify dimensions and diagrams for assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Three to four years of prior related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform regular adjustments, routine scheduled preventative maintenance, calibrations, and repairs from departmental demands both during production and non-production hours.
  • Troubleshoot electrical motors, frequency drives, PLCs, proximity sensors, limit switches, and relays.
  • Troubleshoot industrial electrical issues (12vdc to 480vac).
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and needs in a timely manner within OSHA lockout/tagout and Perdue safety requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, precision-measuring devices, and testing instruments.
  • Hold operational knowledge of assigned plant area as well as position class knowledge, being the subject matter expert on assigned equipment.
  • Respond to processing manager's needs and requests on an as-needed basis or through work assignments as assigned by the Plant Manager.
  • Read and interpret equipment blueprints, schematics, and operators' manuals for troubleshooting purposes.
  • Communicate with the planning department for all recommended repairs and parts that need to be ordered.
