Position type: Hourly Position Overview: Set up and operate machine shop tools and specialized machines without supervision to fabricate machine parts to close tolerances.

Requirements

  • Must demonstrate aptitude in the PA administered GATB Job Family IV of 50% minimum
  • In order to conform with U.S. government regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)3, or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of 2 year Associate program or two year accredited trade school or equivalent.
  • Prior incumbent of Machinist Apprentice or B Pass job related tests.
  • Be familiar with the properties of various materials such as aluminum, brass, cast and wrought iron, tungsten, molybdenum, Various types of steel, bakelite etc.
  • SPC training required

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, interpret, and make sketches and simple scale drawings to fabricate machine parts.
  • Make parts from complicated prints and drawings.
  • Disassemble, repair, reassemble, and maintain production equipment.
  • Make, assemble, and repair dies, jigs and fixtures for production equipment and machine tools.
  • Perform bench operations.
  • Sharpen tools.
  • Transport materials and tools.
  • Make production runs of complex parts.
  • Notify designated personnel of any irregularities or unusual occurrences in process, materials, or equipment.
  • Direct, instruct and train other employees while performing similar work, relaying preestablished directions or instructions.
  • Maintain material identity.
  • Maintain S.P.C., production, and other required records.
  • Enter and retrieve data from computer terminal working with prescribed systems.
  • Perform each phase of the operation in full compliance with all company, state, and/or federal safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area(s) and observe company policies at all times.
