About The Position

As a 3rd Shift Grid Team Manager, you will plan and assign work. You will also implement procedures. Furthermore, you will recommend and implement improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions. These improvements will enhance safety, quality, and performance of the department you are leading. You will report to the Grids Area Manager and be located at Columbia, SC. You will support this role 100% onsite.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 5+ years in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Solid knowledge of area technical requirements.
  • Experience with ceramics.
  • We require manufacturing experience.
  • Need to gain cooperation and build relationships to meet production goals.
  • Apply planning/scheduling tools to communicate plans and report performance.
  • Solicit input and recommendations from employees.
  • Prioritize multiple and sometimes conflicting needs of the area.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and communicate department resources to achieve effective use of employees, equipment, and material.
  • Foster a safety and quality conscious environment through the use and reinforcement of Human Performance and Nuclear Safety Culture traits.
  • Assure personnel compliance to safety, regulatory, and quality requirements. Monitor personnel and area to observe unfavorable trends through use of Visual Management and observations. Communicate discrepancies and solicit support.
  • Determine task performance/skill requirements. Evaluate employee skill levels through use of the training skills matrixes, focus training plans on deficiencies, and strengthen employee development.
  • Create area metrics concerning activities of assigned department.
  • Through standardized huddle meetings, area learning clocks and visual management, communicate and strengthen goals and the performance of the area including any changes to policies.
  • Maintain established employee relations policies and safety/health regulations.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and recommend pay increases, promotions, transfers, and other personnel actions. Interview job candidates and make hiring decisions to fill any open positions.
  • Retain expertise to evaluate personnel and monitor area performance.
  • Apply skills to production or equipment issues to initiate proper corrective action.
  • Lead improvement projects.
  • Implement process/continuous improvements in assigned department.
