About the position

The Forklift Operator/Warehouse Material Handler position is essential for ensuring that customer orders are processed accurately and efficiently. This role requires a commitment to providing excellent customer service by pulling, packaging, converting, shipping, and loading orders while ensuring they are free from visible damage or defects. The working hours for this position are Monday through Friday from 8:30 PM to 5:00 AM, making it a night shift role. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a warehouse environment, which is crucial for performing the essential functions of the job effectively. In this position, the operator will be responsible for using a computer-generated work order or verbal instructions from a supervisor to pull, pack, stage, or convert orders for shipment. Packaging materials according to shipping requirements and customer specifications is a key responsibility, ensuring that all product and shipping labels are legible and that job and order numbers are included on order tickets. The operator will also utilize computer equipment to generate labels, check stock, input data for shipping status, prepare UPS/FedEx shipments, and create shipping manifests. Loading and unloading trucks is another critical function of this role. The operator must ensure that the truck is chocked before attempting to load or unload products, that the truck bed is clear of debris, and that incoming products are free from damage and match the packing list or return authorization. Properly securing loads for delivery and accurately completing and maintaining all forms and records are also essential tasks. Additionally, the operator is expected to perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe work area and comply with all safety rules and regulations. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

  • Pull, pack, stage or convert orders for shipment using a computer-generated work order or verbal instruction from supervisor.
  • Package material for shipment according to shipping requirements and/or customer specified instruction.
  • Ensure that all product/shipping labels are legible and include job and order numbers on order tickets.
  • Use computer equipment to generate labels, check stock, input data for shipping status, prepare UPS/FedEx shipments and create shipping manifests.
  • Load or unload trucks ensuring safety protocols are followed, including chocking the truck and checking for debris.
  • Ensure incoming product is free from damage and matches packing lists or return authorizations.
  • Properly secure loads for delivery and maintain accurate records of all forms and documentation.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to keep work area clean and free of debris.
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid Forklift Certification
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years of warehouse experience (preferred)
  • 2 years of experience operating a stand-up forklift (preferred)
  • 2 years of experience operating a reach truck (preferred)
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs on a daily basis
