About The Position

The 2nd Shift Feed Mill Supervisor will support and serve as a backup to the Feed Mill Manager, ensuring the efficient production and delivery of feed for Tyson-owned turkeys. This role involves overseeing ingredient ordering, inventory management, and employee scheduling.

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma preferred; additional education, vocational training, or college coursework is preferred
  • Experience: 1-3 years of feed mill experience preferred; 5 years of experience in feed mill pellet production is ideal
  • Computer Skills: Basic proficiency in computer use is required, along with strong attention to detail
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage a team of up to 8 employees
  • Monitor and maintain ingredient inventory within set tolerances
  • Improve crumble and pellet quality, as well as tons per hour of production
  • Implement and oversee ingredient and pellet quality testing
  • Enhance load turn times and optimize the use of 30-ton trailers
  • Address customer complaints regarding feed quality and deliveries in the absence of the Feed Mill Manager
  • Work with the Feed Clerk and Finisher Service team to minimize leftover feed after flocks are marketed
  • Reduce weekend deliveries and communicate mill issues or downtime to the Farms team
  • Foster a culture of safety and efficiency throughout operations
