Job SummaryThe 3rd Grade Teacher fosters a Christ-centered, academically strong classroom that supports the spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional development of each student. This role integrates Catholic values into everyday learning, maintains high academic expectations, and supports the mission of St. Stephen Protomartyr School in alignment with the National Standards and Benchmarks for Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools (NSBECS).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification appropriate for elementary education.
  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
  • Strong understanding of Catholic teachings and commitment to faith‑based education.
  • Experience teaching at the elementary level, preferably in a Catholic school.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with educational technology and digital learning tools.

Responsibilities

  • Model and uphold Catholic values in all classroom interactions.
  • Integrate faith-based principles across 3rd grade curriculum and activities.
  • Create a respectful, inclusive classroom that reflects Catholic teachings.
  • Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, and religious activities.
  • Develop and deliver standards‑aligned 3rd grade lesson plans rooted in curriculum and NSBECS.
  • Use varied instructional strategies, including differentiated instruction and hands‑on learning.
  • Promote curiosity, critical thinking, problem‑solving, and a love for learning in 3rd graders.
  • Integrate technology to enhance instruction and support student engagement.
  • Support students’ spiritual, academic, and social‑emotional growth appropriate to the 3rd grade level.
  • Maintain high expectations for behavior, responsibility, and academic success.
  • Assess progress using formative and summative assessments; adjust instruction as needed.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • Support and participate in school events, community activities, and service projects.
  • Serve as a role model of faith, service, leadership, and academic excellence.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Reflect on instructional practices and seek opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support student success and enhance instructional practices.
