About The Position

The Academic Interventionist is responsible for providing researched based interventions to identified students. Implements scientific- based research strategies to enable students to develop the competencies and skills to be successful students. Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior required to achieve effective participation in all activities. Uses identified needs to guide the learning process toward student achievement of the school’s math/reading content standards. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects using formal and informal assessment data obtained from students. Uses a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to support content standards and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Develops and delivers lesson plans appropriate to the needs and abilities of assigned students. Evaluates academic growth of students and maintains appropriate records. Communicates regularly with school level personnel. Coaching and supporting teachers in all elements of instruction (Lower School) Performing lesson observations and providing specific and actionable feedback for improvement (Lower School) Vetting lesson plans, ensuring alignment with school curriculum, and providing other curricular guidance as needed (Lower School) Modeling lessons for teachers (Lower School) Other responsibilities as reasonably necessary in operation of OPS or otherwise requested by the School Directors.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher and proven aptitude in the specified subject area are necessary.
