About The Position

The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for 3-5 year old children. This role helps with daily routines, supervision, learning activities, and classroom care in accordance with NYC Article 47 childcare regulations and DOE's Birth to Five Handbook.

Requirements

• Minimum 18 years old and High School Diploma or GED.
• Must complete all required clearance and trainings.
• Reliable, patient, caring, and able to work as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with young children & higher education in early childhood education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of daily lessons, play activities, and routines.
• Maintain constant, competent supervision of children and ensure safety at all times.
• Assist with meals, bathroom routines, rest time, and transitions.
• Help keep the classroom clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety rules.
• Contribute to observing children and communicating daily updates to staff and families.
• Participate in required training (CPR/First Aid, health & safety, Article 47 trainings).
