About The Position

Harman Automotive Design is looking for a Senior 3D Unity Character Designer for The New Ready Engage product in the Intelligent cockpit team. The HARMAN Automotive avatar, Ready Engage, is a hands-free co-pilot, concierge, and indispensable companion, that builds a genuine and growing bond between user and technologyHyper-personalized, predictive, generative and agentic AI, Ready Engage is designed to be smart and fulfilling. We want to create an AI assistant with a heartbeat — it speaks with emotion, moves with personality, and becomes a companion instead of a tool, making interactions memorable and meaningful. As a Senior 3D Unity Character Designer for Automotive you will join the award-winning and growing design team and become part of our global acting family with more than 200 designers. You will gain experience in the Intelligent Cockpit business at Harman Automotive and help our product development team transition from a primarily 2D / Android HMI to a 3D, immersive, Unity-based HMI.

Requirements

You are an experienced user experience designer with a background in automotive and mobility work. You seek to challenge yourself in a fast-paced environment and create beautiful experiences as part of a complex and engaging team of designers to produce user interfaces.
Degree in design or comparable vocational training
Extensive experience (5+ years) designing in Unity
Digital native and a real “doer” who’s familiar with and helps drive the latest design trends
Analytical thinking in a broad and detailed sense
Structured way of working, even with multiple projects running in parallel
Expert in Adobe CC Suite
Experience working with one or more 3D tools, e.g. Blender, Cinema 4D and/or motion design know-how, e.g. After Effects
Knowledge of prototyping tools, usability testing and user research is a big plus
Fluent in English
Extensive experience in the development of creative, emotive, empathic, interactive digital characters
A background in the gaming industry, esp. character and NPC development

Responsibilities

Acting as an agent of change, you will orchestrate meaningful VPA Avatar experiences in Unity that showcase the best Harman Automotive in-cabin technologies, including upgradable central computing hardware, windshield projection systems, ADAS visualization, augmented reality, camera-based wellness, and Ai.
Able to lead and mentor the product development team to transition to Unity
Create and define various design ideas using Unity’s unique capabilities
Collaborate with visual designers to create 3D scenes and compositions
Define interactive features for interfaces (transitions and animations) in 2D and 3D
Work together with information architects to create overarching UX concepts
Compose real-time capable 3D characters
Build interactive prototypes where required
Create and design presentations
Be convincing in client presentations and discussions
Support and improve internal processes and workflows
Enjoy national and international travel
