The Herff Jones Operations team is looking for a 3D CAD Designer to join our HJ Family. As a 3D CAD Designer, you will be responsible for designing 3D dimensional designs in our CAD program using the supplied 2D artwork from our graphic design department. At Herff Jones we may have been around for 100 years, but we still have the mentality of a scrappy startup. For you, that means your job may grow and change over time. But don’t worry, we would never ask an employee to take on an assignment they didn’t already have the right skill sets they needed to succeed. As we see it for right now, however, here are the challenges that we want you to tackle:

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Rhino CAD design software preferred.
  • Ability to adhere to close tolerances and attention to detail is required.
  • Proficiency in Windows PC including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with 2D Adobe Illustrator preferred.
  • Jewelry experience preferred.
  • Ability to adhere to close tolerances and attention to detail
  • Ability to establish priorities and work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for interpreting art drawings into 3-dimensional computer models and producing tool paths for CNC machining.
  • Produce a numeric tool path part program that is used to control a computer numeric controlled engraver (CNC)
  • Obtain and review die requisitions.
  • Responsible for creating a tool that meets the design specifications while capturing the original art design.
  • Evaluate supplied artwork and samples
  • Forward finished production molds and die requests to appropriate department.
  • Create 3D solid models
  • Send files to 3D printers
  • Remove parts from 3D printers
