About The Position

Direct and supervise the installation or repair cables or wires used in electrical power or distribution systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards. May erect poles and light or heavy duty transmission towers. Plan and coordinate the efforts of the craft workers under his/her supervision and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Must have working experience as a Journeyman Lineman or equivalent education and experience in an industrial construction setting working with High Voltage cables.
  • Strong working knowledge of the installation or repair of cables or wires used in electrical power or distribution systems.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Must have all necessary tools as per Lineman Tool List.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more of the following certifications: NCCER Power Line Work, NCCER Power Generation Maintenance Electrician, State Electrical License, NCCER Rigger, NCCER Fundamentals of Crew Leadership, NCCER Project Supervision, NCCER Project Management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all of the principal duties and accountabilities of craft workers under supervision.
  • Lead and support all safety related processes and programs.
  • Engage with work team to ensure zero injuries.
  • Understand scheduling, material control and unit man-hour performance reporting.
  • Create and execute a one week schedule.
  • Set and execute crew goals based on project unit rates.
  • Review crew's timecards for correct hours and phase coding.
  • Report all accidents and near misses to supervisor.
  • Participate in investigation process as needed.
  • Review accidents and the causes with employees.
  • Lead, complete, and sign off on daily pre-job safety planning.
  • Identify safety hazards and take corrective action.
  • Ensure all crew members understand and participate in pre-job safety planning.
  • Understand and respond to all safety hazards and warning devices.
  • Implement and follow lockout/tag out procedures.
  • Attend site specific training and follow all outlined procedures.
  • Use effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Listen to employees and supervisor's suggestions and concerns.
  • Coordinate and communicate work with other crafts and co-workers.
  • Provide on-the-job training to individuals under supervision.
  • Conduct tool box meetings and communicate safety concerns.
  • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with contract plans and specifications.
  • Ensure construction equipment is correctly operated and maintained.
  • Complete performance reviews of craft workers according to CPA Guidelines.
