About The Position

Under the direction of the Packing Department Supervisor, assists in overseeing general operation of packing lines and ancillary functions.

Requirements

• High school plus additional training needed.
• Competency on personal computer required.
• Basic math skills needed.
• Certified Forklift Operator.
• Good verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to read, write and speak English required.
• Conversational Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assists Packing Supervisor in overseeing packing lines and ancillary activities.
• Assists Packing Supervisor in determining proper staffing of machine lines.
• Assigns work schedule to certain packing department employees and makes changes to employee schedules as necessary for proper staffing.
• Relays instructions from Packing Supervisor to other departmental employees.
• Uses personal computer to complete detailed staffing worksheets based on employees scheduled to work.
• Assists departmental employees with all duties and problems as needed.
• Trains new employees.
• Helps prepare maintenance work requests, absentee reports, accident reports, etc.
• Performs routine clerical duties, such as making copies and completing daily reports.
• Follows safety rules and company policies.
• Performs duties of Packer/Laborer, Machine Operator and Forklift Operator on an as-needed basis.
• Assists Inside Production Supervisor with projects, programs, and other work as needed.
• May lead departmental safety meetings on occasion.
• Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.
• Receives written instructions from packing schedule or verbal instructions from supervisor on above tasks and performs other work as directed by supervisor.
