Your role in helping us shape the future: We are looking for a motivated journalism student who is interested in learning about consumer advice editing. You will learn about our unique and highly respected brand of advice journalism; the tools and strategies that power a major media brand on the cutting edge of the information age; how to edit content for clarity, style and flow; SEO best practices; and how to produce and illustrate articles in our content management system. Requirements

  • Eligible candidates must be one of the following: Part-time or full-time students who have completed 48-plus credit hours (rising juniors/seniors and graduate students) and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university Part-time or full-time students enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited college or university
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism and maturity in the workplace
  • Effective communicator in both written and spoken English
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of MSOffice Suite and Google Docs
  • 3.0 GPA or above preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of AP style
  • SEO-savvy and some familiarity with Google Analytics, Semrush or other SEO tools
  • Interest and/or familiarity in writing consumer advice content
  • Video and graphics capability
  • Social media savvy

Responsibilities

  • Perform fact-checking
  • Identify and catalog articles that need to be updated
  • Update, edit and optimize older stories
  • Create videos and other multimedia products for social media
  • Actively and enthusiastically participate in training and team activities
  • Assist with research or administrative tasks as needed
  • Help research and write advice-oriented content and articles
