About The Position

The Preschool Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the operations and instruction of the preschool program within Taunton Public Schools. This role includes managing staff, ensuring compliance with educational standards, fostering a safe and nurturing learning environment, and engaging with parents and the community. The coordinator will develop and implement curriculum, evaluate its effectiveness, and manage the preschool budget and resources.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Experience in preschool or early childhood educational settings, with at least two years in a supervisory role in elementary education
  • Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Licensure (MA DESE); Early Childhood (PRE-K-2) and Administrator preferred
  • Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood and/or elementary education
  • Experience working with budgets preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills
  • CPR and First Aid Certification, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development
  • Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum and make adjustments as needed
  • Hire, train and evaluate all pre-school teachers and support staff
  • Support principals and staff in all necessary programs
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that promotes continuous learning and growth
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and work with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction to provide professional development opportunities
  • Ensure the preschool program complies with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized education plans and programs (IEPs) for preschool children with special needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to ensure that IEP goals are effectively addressed in the classroom
  • Design and implement strategies to promote inclusion and accommodate diverse learning needs within the preschool setting
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations governing special education services in preschool settings
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children and staff, including regular safety inspections
  • Foster positive relationships with parents through regular communication, meetings and events that support the child's educational needs
  • Collaborate with community organizations to enhance program resources and support
  • Manage the preschool budget and resources effectively and collectively in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations
  • Maintain accurate records related to enrollment, attendance and child progress, assessment results and service delivery in accordance with legal and local requirements
  • Commitment to promoting a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that fosters children's cognitive, social and emotional development
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, parents and other stakeholders to address compliance issues and resolve concerns
  • Provide training and ongoing support to preschool staff on best practices in special education, behavior management, and inclusion strategies in collaboration with the Director of Special Education
  • Observe and assess children's developmental milestones and address any concerns
  • Provide guidance and support to parents regarding child development and behavior
  • Occasional evening or weekend hours may be necessary for meetings or events
  • Ability to articulate clear goals, objectives and timelines for strategic initiatives
  • Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities inherent in educational environments, including budget constraints and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct comprehensive data collection and analysis to inform programmatic decisions and funding proposals
  • Collaborate with district/school administrators and early education professionals to plan and implement effective programs
  • Performance of such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Superintendent or his designee
