About The Position

The Retail Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant dispensing of medications within an FQHC retail pharmacy setting. This role involves direct patient care, collaborating with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapies, and supporting underserved populations with access to affordable medications. The pharmacist must adhere to all applicable federal, state, and organizational regulations, including 340B program guidelines, while promoting a patient-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) from an accredited program.
  • Licensed and registered as a pharmacist in [insert state].
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, drug interactions, and pharmacological principles.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy management software, electronic health records (EHR), and Microsoft Office Sui te

Responsibilities

  • Accurately interpret and dispense prescriptions while ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Counsel patients on proper medication use, potential side effects, and storage, tailoring education to diverse populations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve medication-related issues and optimize therapeutic outcomes.
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy, ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient workflow.
  • Monitor patients for adherence to therapy and provide interventions to improve health outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with FQHC-specific guidelines, including the 340B Drug Pricing Program, AAAHC, and HRSA regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of controlled substances, inventory, and dispensing activities in accordance with state and federal laws.
  • Oversee inventory levels, ensuring medications are ordered, stored, and disposed of appropriately.
  • Monitor and resolve discrepancies in billing, inventory, and dispensing, including managing expired or returned medications.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff, providing training and ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a resource for healthcare providers, offering guidance on medication therapies and cost-effective alternatives.
  • Participate in staff meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and cross-departmental collaboration to enhance patient care.
  • Administer immunizations and provide public health education as part of the FQHC mission.
  • Identify and address social determinants of health that may affect medication adherence, offering resources or referrals as appropriate .
  • Develop and maintain strong patient-provider relationships to ensure continuity of care.
