About The Position

The 3D Technical Designer will play a crucial role in supporting business growth by enhancing the in-house Design and Engineering department's capabilities. This position involves working on multiple projects, interpreting briefs, and creating innovative design solutions primarily for the retail display market, including POS and POP displays. The designer will be responsible for taking projects from concept through to technical specifications for manufacturing, collaborating with a team of designers and engineers.

Requirements

• Ideally some experience within design for the retail industry, or a similar industry.
• An understanding of the practicalities and limitations of design for retail: materials, finishes, assembly and installation, etc.
• Knowledge and understanding of various manufacturing processes, primarily sheet metal and steel fabrication, timber and plastics.
• Stays up to date with latest trends, styles and technologies and how these can be implemented at a brand level.
• Proficient in relevant CAD modelling and visualisation software. Solidworks would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Working on concept designs for a range of clients including well-known multi-nationals.
• Generating accurate and comprehensive technical drawings of designs down to component level.
• Time management of assigned projects, prioritising tasks and communicating clearly on progress and actions.
• Ensuring design outputs meet required quality levels and timings.
• Evaluating inbound briefs to ensure clarity and accuracy of information.
• Performing relevant research on specific clients, markets and regions.
