About The Position
The primary purpose of your job position as a Charge Nurse / Shift Supervisor is to provide direct nursing care to patients and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. This supervision must adhere to current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, as required by the Director of Nursing Services, to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. You will be delegated the authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties, which include a variety of administrative, nursing care, and supervisory functions. In your role, you will direct the daily functions of nursing assistants, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures. You will meet with nursing staff and support personnel to plan services, programs, and activities for your shifts. It is essential to maintain the Nursing Service Procedures Manual, ensuring it reflects current practices and that all nursing personnel comply with its procedures. You will also be responsible for making written and oral reports regarding your shift's activities and cooperating with other patient services to maintain a comprehensive regimen of care for patients. Your responsibilities will extend to participating in the development and implementation of the facility's quality assurance program, conducting patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and ensuring that all documentation is completed accurately and timely. You will prepare and administer medications, verify patient identities, and maintain accurate narcotic records. Additionally, you will participate in employee performance evaluations, develop work assignments, and provide leadership to nursing personnel. Your role will also involve ensuring that all nursing care is provided in a manner that respects patient rights and confidentiality, while maintaining a safe and clean environment for both patients and staff.
