About The Position

The Thermoform Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating Thermoforming machines under close supervision. This role involves inspecting in-process components using calibrated measuring instruments and handling polymer/plastic sheets that need to be removed from calibrated batch ovens and placed into the forming machine. The operator must adhere to Tecomet’s principles of continuous improvement, customer-driven innovation, and a win-first culture while meeting company financial and performance metrics.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 6 months related experience.

Nice To Haves

• Basic blueprint reading skills.
• Experience using a torch and pyrometer.
• Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.
• Good communication skills – both verbal and written.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions.
• Understanding of shop math.
• Ability to identify cosmetic defects in products.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Thermoforming machines with close supervision.
• Inspect in-process components using calibrated measuring instrumentation.
• Measure thickness and identify color of materials (Ultem/Radel and others).
• Recognize proper sag time and engage forming cycle.
• Identify cosmetic defects and functional problems with configurations.
• Place parts in stacks on designated rolling racks.
• Record transactions accurately and timely.
• Put away molds and rack/load them in the oven.
• Rough and finish trim excess off molds.
• Inspect molds from the oven.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
