About The Position

The 2nd Shift Team Leader Housekeeper at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) is responsible for overseeing the housekeeping operations during the night shift. This role involves coordinating cleaning activities, ensuring cleanliness in offices and public areas, and leading a team of housekeepers to maintain a high standard of hygiene and orderliness on campus. The position requires physical stamina and the ability to manage tasks efficiently while responding to the needs of the campus community.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1 year of commercial cleaning experience, particularly in a university or medical setting.
• Ability to perform medium to heavy physical work.
• Basic computer skills for correspondence and reporting.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in institutional cleaning procedures.
• Knowledge of operating standard commercial laundry machines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the work of one Housekeeper on the night shift within designated buildings on campus.
• Provide direction to the night shift housekeeper as needed.
• Ensure daily work and projects are completed in a timely manner.
• Assess non-routine matters and escalate to higher management when appropriate.
• Perform basic cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, disinfecting, and sanitizing.
• Empty trash receptacles and recycle bins.
• Fill dispensers with the proper products and amounts.
• Schedule work to minimize impact on the campus community.
• Report maintenance items to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
• Maintain an inventory of cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment.
