About The Position

The position involves managing day-to-day operations in the welding department, ensuring team efficiency, and enforcing safety policies and company rules. The role requires critical thinking to resolve conflicts and effective communication with other plants and departments regarding materials. The individual will be responsible for conducting quality checks and inspecting road safety components within the welding cell, ensuring compliance with drawings. Additionally, the position entails reworking weldments that do not meet requirements and providing feedback to other welders on acceptable weld quality. The role does not include reprimanding other welders for poor workmanship. The individual will operate various tools necessary for welding, including wire feed welders, plasma cutters, and other equipment, while performing welding in multiple positions. The job also requires setting up parts for welding, operating overhead cranes, and maintaining safety and productivity standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations in weld.
  • Ensure team efficiency.

  • Communicate with other plants and/or departments on materials.
  • Complete quality checks.
  • Inspect road safety components within the cell.
  • Rework weldments that do not meet requirements.
  • Provide feedback to other welders on acceptable weld quality.
  • Operate all types of tools necessary to the job.
  • Weld in all positions: vertical, flat, horizontal lap, and overhead.
  • Set up various parts and assemblies for welding.
  • Set machines up for carbon and stainless steel of various gauges.
  • Place and move blocking, braces, and jigs to hold parts.
  • Grind or chip rough edges, surplus weld, or scale.
  • Operate overhead cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices.
  • Perform measurement and quality checks and record findings.
  • Operate robotic weld equipment.
  • Perform all assigned tasks in a safe, efficient, and highly productive manner.
  • Contribute to the team effort to produce a quality product.
  • Attend scheduled work hours on a regular and timely basis.
  • Maintain good attendance.
  • Ability to work mandatory overtime.
