With roots in northeast Indiana, we are a family-owned company that has been raising and processing organic and all-natural chicken with the help of local farm families for over 30 years. We are vertically integrated and oversee every process within the company, from our chicks hatching at our family-owned hatchery, being placed within our community of more than 180 farm families, to owning two feed mills that process our corn and soybean meal mixture. We do our best to source our feed ingredients from local farmers to minimize our carbon footprint. The Refrigeration and Utility Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing the refrigeration and utility systems while complying with PSM and RMP guidelines. This position requires a candidate that has a strong attention to detail and is safety conscious. Essential functions include knowing all GMPs and plant rules, following safety rules, and possibly being a member of the safety team. The technician may be trained for first aid help and must know and follow confined space procedures and Hot Work Permit procedures. They will help maintain MSDS and must pass all tests and verifications for LOTO, pallet jack, forklift, scissor lift, ammonia system, confined spaces, and electrical safety (Arc flash). The technician will be trained to operate, repair, and assist with training on pallet jacks, forklifts, and scissor lifts. They must know all animal welfare rules and be able to perform PSM-RMP checks. Mandatory participation in the emergency responder team is required, along with the ability to perform lock out/tag out procedures. Daily rounds of checks must be performed, and the technician should be able to grease equipment properly. A basic knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems, PSM documentation, industrial boilers, water heaters, pumps, air compressors, and industrial electronics (up to 480V) is necessary. Basic plumbing knowledge and the ability to read blueprints/P&IDs are also required. Understanding ammonia labeling and symbols is essential, as is the capability of minor refrigeration and utilities rebuilds and basic troubleshooting skills involving refrigeration and utilities. Successful completion of the WMI Level 1 Refrigeration course is expected. The technician must be a team player with a good attitude towards work and others, self-motivated, and able to complete assigned tasks.
