About The Position

The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for overseeing and delivering on several key functions within the Food Safety and Quality Department. This position will be required to monitor and trend data to effectively communicate next steps based on frequently complex and nuanced information gathered by multiple departments within the organization. Key functions include document control, change management, and compliance adherence. Ultimately, this position will ensure adherence to both required regulatory requirements and the exemplary FSQ standards held by Hudsonville Ice Cream Company.

Requirements

  • Preferred Bachelor's in Food Science, Microbiology, or Chemistry or relevant experience required.
  • 3+ years experience in food, beverage, or pharmaceutical or similarly regulated manufacturing environment with 1+ year relevant food safety or quality experience.
  • PCQI certification, HACCP, and/or SQF certification/experience preferred.
  • Internal Auditor training.
  • Food Safety First mindset with an exceptional eye for detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with team members and other manufacturing or supporting departments.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Working knowledge with laboratory information management systems and inventory management systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance of all Quality Assurance Programs, including Finished Good Specifications, Document Control, Change Management, Internal Audits, etc.
  • Superuser for Quality Software Platforms, i.e. LIMS and ERP.
  • Serve as facility training coordinator, ensuring compliance with food safety, regulatory and safety.
  • Oversee the weight control program, including MAV, net weight, and standard of identity.
  • Create and maintain retain program for sensory evaluation and investigative purposes.
  • Manage document control and record program.
  • Ensure successful execution of site's Appendix N Program (raw milk testing).
  • Execute mock crisis exercises and verify site's overall effectiveness.
  • Serve as GFCO, Kosher, and Organic liaison, maintaining site's compliance.
  • Verify accuracy of packaging at first receipt.
