We are looking for 2nd Shift Production Supervisor to support our team at our corporate location in Independence, Kentucky.
Summary:
Plans, directs, coordinates, and controls activities of workers engaged in manufacturing parts by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee machine operators in a Lean manufacturing environment, using Lean principle for process improvement and problem solving.
Follows the production schedule ensuring that the right parts are running on the correct machines.
Coordinates manpower requirements between areas where applicable to meet changing conditions.
Maintains time and production records.
Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
Maintains an appropriate labor-management relationship with subordinates.
Maintains proper staffing, both full time and agency, to operate effectively.
Ensures that products are made to quality standards.
Maintains a safe work environment. Holds monthly safety meetings to keep all employees involved. Posts agenda to meeting, as well as minutes.
Ensures that orders ship in a timely manner. Relays any information to scheduling that is known and may cause an order to be late.
Evaluates agency employees to make recommendations on hiring as full-time employees.
Enforces all company policies fairly and evenly. Remains firm, fair and consistent with all employees at all time
Performs employee evaluations.
Answers employees' questions concerning policy issues.
Approves requests for employees' paid time off.
Ensures all tools and equipment stays in working order.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises employees in the Manufacturing Department.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment and understanding of LEAN principles is required.
Understanding of ISO principles is a plus.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word software is helpful.
