About The Position

The 2nd Shift Manager oversees our 2nd Shift our production operations at our Manhattan facility to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety standards are consistently met. This role is responsible for managing personnel, maintaining equipment and inventory, and improving processes to meet production deadlines and customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, with leadership responsibilities
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to coach, train, and lead a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and production tracking software (ERP System GSS)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Powder Coat and Welding systems and related equipment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report performance metrics for each department and hold team members accountable.
  • Based on department priorities, ensure all team members are completing the tasks assigned.
  • Refine the daily plan based on current conditions on shift.
  • Monitor employee time tracking to ensure accurate job clocking and time balancing in GSS (ERP System).
  • Resolve employee conflicts promptly and professionally.
  • Attend daily startup meetings; coach and support department team leaders to improve effectiveness.
  • Identify team members in need of additional training and arrange internal and external training as needed.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to develop department team members and enhance their skills.
  • Establish and maintain technician level quality checks to ensure the highest level of quality standards are consistently met.
  • Report all rework and quality issues to department managers including root cause and any corrective actions taken.
  • In-depth understanding of all department processes.
  • Expand technical knowledge of department functions through continuous learning and professional development.
  • Ensure all safety concerns and incidents are reported promptly and appropriate care is provided.
  • Review and update process and procedure documentation annually.
  • Support maintenance with their daily tasks.
  • Collaborate with other managers to exchange feedback and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Other duties as assigned by leadership
