About The Position

The position involves working from 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM, Monday through Thursday. The primary responsibilities include dismantling, relocating, moving, welding, repairing, and installing various mechanical components such as shafts, gears, pulleys, clutches, hoists, conveyors, and other facility or production equipment. The role requires the use of shop equipment including lathes and hand tools, as well as troubleshooting mechanical issues and evaluating problems to disassemble and reassemble equipment. Additionally, the position entails maintaining equipment and machinery by replacing worn or broken parts and adjusting machine parts to overhaul or rebuild equipment according to specifications. The role also involves fabricating equipment by building, assembling, and installing it based on facility layouts and blueprints. The technician will work alongside maintenance electricians or contractors for installation projects and assist the maintenance team with repairs and projects, participating in team efforts to maintain and upgrade shop equipment. The job may require performing heavy plant maintenance using scaffolds and safety equipment, and participating in continuous improvement activities to suggest enhancements to work processes and departmental methods.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Confined Space Training.
  • Respiratory Training.
  • Lock Out Tag Out Training.
  • Hazwhopper Training.
  • Blood Borne Pathogens Training.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in maintenance or related field or equivalent preferred.
  • Working knowledge of stamping equipment and machinery.
  • Deep draw stamping experience preferred.
  • Development of preventive maintenance systems preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to comprehend and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety procedures, material cards, process sheets, and operating procedures.
  • High level of ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, and complex technical instructions.
  • Ability to operate forklift truck.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of electrical, pneumatics, and hydraulic functioning of equipment.
  • Good understanding of tools and their capabilities in maintenance and design of equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ergonomics for setting up equipment and machinery for comfort and efficiency.
  • Understanding and practice of fact-based problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Dismantles, relocates, moves, welds, repairs and installs shafts, gears, pulleys, clutches, hoists, conveyors and other facility or production equipment.
  • Use shop equipment such as Lathe, mulling, and shop hand tools.
  • Able to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Evaluate problems, disassemble and reassemble mechanical equipment.
  • Replace worn or broken parts of machinery.
  • Adjust machine parts required to overhaul or rebuild the equipment according to drawings or specifications.
  • Builds, assembles and installs equipment using facility layout, blueprints, sketches, and drawings.
  • Work with maintenance electrician or contractor to complete dismantling or installation projects.
  • Assist members of the maintenance team with repairs and projects.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and suggesting improvements to work processes.
