2nd Shift Janitorial Supervisor

About the position

The position of the Janitorial Supervisor is a key role in keeping all of Harrisburg University spaces clean, sanitized, and looking presentable for all our employees, students, and visitors. Hours would be Monday - Friday 2:00PM-10:00PM.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the daily duties of the janitorial team.
• Making sure that all janitors are completing their daily checks of their specific floors/areas.
• Understanding how each type of area needs to be cleaned.
• Evaluating the daily duties of the janitorial team.
• Checking that all areas marked clean on a janitor's daily checklist are done to a satisfactory level.
• Making effective corrections to improper use of working time.
• Training new hires on the correct way to clean Harrisburg University spaces.
• Taking inventory of supplies and working with facilities on ordering.
• Reporting all repairs needed to facilities.
• Assigning janitorial duties or making shifts in schedule when short of staff.
• Resolving conflicts within the janitors in an effective manner.
• Performing all janitor duties in the case of a shortage of staff.
• Providing up-to-date training to keep all janitors sharp on all cleaning duties.
• Operating all janitorial equipment, including vacuums, carpet extractor, hard surface machine, and upholstery machine.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning and sanitation.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft and Outlook).
• Effective communication skills.
• Effective organizational skills.
• Basic mathematical skills.
