About The Position

The 2nd Shift Fitter position at SteelFab, Inc. in Durant, OK involves the difficult fabrication of steel parts by interpreting blueprints and building to specifications. The role requires the use of various handheld power tools and track-type oxyfuel cutting apparatus, all while working with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying out rises, slopes, and bevels using framing squares, as well as building fixtures necessary for the fabrication process. This position demands a high level of skill in welding, as candidates must pass a tack weld test in 3F and 4F positions with the F4 electrode group. Additionally, the ability to interpret structural steel blueprints and shop drawings is essential, along with the capability to camber and operate various tools such as a 90-degree angle grinder, cutting torch, and impact wrench. The role also includes operating an overhead pendant-controlled bridge crane safely and efficiently, fabricating trusses and rolled beams, and utilizing a radiograph/track torch. Being a qualified welder is a critical requirement, and the candidate will be expected to perform other duties as required by management. This position is part of a structured fabrication schedule, with the 2nd shift running from Monday to Thursday, 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and Friday from 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM.
