About The Position

The CNC Milling Operator will operate and maintain CNC milling machines to perform various milling operations. This includes reading blueprints and ensuring products meet specified tolerances. The role also involves conducting regular maintenance and ensuring a safe, clean working environment.

Requirements

• Proficient in operating CNC milling machines and related tools.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, including milling, drilling, and tapping.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
• Experience with CNC programming (G-code) and machine setup is a plus.
• Ability to work with precision and accuracy, maintaining tight tolerances.
• Skilled in using precision measurement instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.).
• Ability to troubleshoot minor machine malfunctions or quality issues.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Good communication skills to collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and fellow operators.
• High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate).
• Post-Secondary Certificate - awarded for training completed after high school (for example, in Personnel Services, Engineering-related Technologies, NIMS, CNC Trades, Mechanics and Repairers, Precision Production Trades).
• 2-3 years of CNC Operation.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC milling machines to produce parts according to specifications.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, machine speeds, and feeds for each job.
• Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain accuracy and quality.
• Interpret engineering blueprints, sketches, and CAD models to determine product dimensions and machine setup requirements.
• Input or adjust CNC programs as required to meet job specifications.
• Measure and inspect finished products using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools.
• Ensure parts meet tight tolerances and maintain quality throughout production runs.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to identify defects and make necessary adjustments.
• Perform routine maintenance, such as cleaning machines, changing tools, and lubricating parts.
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical or programming issues as they arise.
• Report major machine issues to maintenance or supervisors.
• Maintain accurate records of machine operation, part counts, and inspection data.
• Complete work orders, log run times, and record materials used in production.
• Follow all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations, particularly in regard to workplace safety and environmental standards.
