The CNC Machinist will perform a wide variety of machine tool operations including but not limited to setting up and operating CNC equipment, as well as turning, milling, drilling, boring, and threading machines. Working from blueprints, process sheets, established procedures and schedules, the machinist will make their own setups, modify and/or edit CNC programs, and/or adjust to optimize feeds and speeds on all machine shop related equipment according to size and type of material to achieve quality standards. The role may also require performing work in the absence of general use specifications and layouts. The machinist is required to check and inspect their own work using rulers, calipers, micrometers, go-no-go gauges, and precision inspection equipment to maintain tolerances. Additionally, they will operate turning and milling tool sharpening equipment and drill grinders to maintain tooling. The machinist will initiate corrective action to resolve problems and report major malfunctions and continuing difficulties to the supervisor. They will identify problems with jigs, fixtures, and tooling and make adjustments as required. The role includes performing own material handling and minor machine maintenance, following good housekeeping and safety practices, advising and assisting others as required, and performing other miscellaneous duties as required. The machinist is expected to provide their own basic tools to efficiently perform the job.
