The 2nd shift Casepacker position involves setting up and operating the line to produce products that meet quality specifications. The role requires maintaining machine systems, making necessary adjustments, and troubleshooting common machine and quality problems. The ideal candidate should be motivated, organized, and possess excellent communication skills, requiring minimal supervision.

  • Troubleshoot common machine/quality problems and make necessary mechanical adjustments.
  • Operate equipment at optimum efficiency.
  • Ensure proper inner cartons are being used for the product being run.
  • Check for bad inner cartons and inform supervisor if more than a few.
  • Check glue pattern on inner carton for proper amount and location.
  • Clean glue buildups as needed.
  • Adjust tucker assembly.
  • Perform brand, size, and metal changes efficiently.
  • Inspect inner cartons coming down the compression line for quality product.
  • Load inner cartons.
  • Change date codes and understand the date code system.
  • Verify correct date code and UPC on inner cartons and shipping cases.
  • Monitor carton quality to ensure boxes are square, sealed, and flaps are glued straight.
  • Perform quality checks at least once per hour and complete quality check sheets.
  • Clear any jams.
  • Open damaged boxes and repack acceptable rolls.
  • Process scrap in a timely manner.
  • Fill glue pot.
  • Stack off or backlog if the machine is malfunctioning.
  • Inform material handler before inner cartons or master cartons are required at the line.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the line to GMP standards.
  • Load shipping cases.
  • Monitor in-feed line for box quality.
  • Clear damaged boxes from casepacker.
  • Complete production report.
  • Troubleshoot minor quality and machine problems; communicate more complex problems to maintenance.
  • Assist with changeovers and order changes whenever possible.
  • Understand and follow the production schedule.
  • Identify and correctly complete forms to provide info needed on substandard product or raw materials.
  • Ability to train new employees.
  • Any other duties as requested or required.
  • Able to operate all cartoners and case packers at an established average efficiency level of 90%.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for ten hours (twelve during busy season) and walk up and down steps.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience.
