Job SummarySt Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church is seeking a faith‑filled, enthusiastic, and mission‑driven 2nd Grade Teacher for the 2026–27 school year. The ideal candidate is a practicing Catholic who is committed to nurturing the spiritual, academic, and social‑emotional growth of each child. This teacher will guide students through foundational academic skills while preparing them to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education required.
  • Valid teaching certification preferred.
  • Religious Education Certification preferred or willingness to pursue certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students of varied backgrounds, cultures, and learning needs.
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of St Margaret Mary Alacoque Catholic Church

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver instruction in all core subjects including religion, reading, math, science, social studies, and social‑emotional learning.
  • Teach and prepare students for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion with theological accuracy, pastoral care, and age‑appropriate instruction.
  • Integrate Catholic faith, values, and traditions into daily classroom activities and community life.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, assessment tools, and learning supports to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Maintain a welcoming, safe, and culturally responsive classroom environment that reflects the school’s commitment to diversity and unity.
  • Assess student learning using formative and summative methods; communicate progress regularly with families.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to align curriculum, plan school events, and support student growth.
  • Implement effective classroom management techniques fostering respect, responsibility, and positive behavior.
  • Use technology appropriately to support instruction, communication, and student engagement.
  • Participate in professional development, faith‑formation opportunities, and school community activities.
  • Maintain accurate records, lesson plans, and documentation required by the school and Archdiocese.
