About The Position

This is a dream role for someone who loves solving hard technical problems. Work remotely for a UK‑based company, avoid the daily commute, and gain true international exposure. You’ll play a key role as they scale their South African technical team. My client is building out their South African technical team and is looking for a highly capable 2nd / 3rd Line Support Engineer who enjoys owning complex problems end‑to-end. This is not a ticket‑factory role. You’ll be the engineer people trust when issues become messy, cross‑platform, or high‑risk. You’ll work across Microsoft cloud technologies, networking, servers, and endpoints, acting as the escalation point for more junior engineers and helping raise the technical standard of the team. The environment is an MSP, meaning real‑world complexity, multiple clients, and constant technical variety. You’ll troubleshoot authentication failures, networking issues, security incidents, Conditional Access policies, Intune deployments, and hybrid infrastructure challenges, often spotting patterns others miss. You’ll also mentor junior engineers, guide rather than dictate, and document solutions properly so the next person doesn’t start from scratch. Autonomy, judgement, and technical integrity matter here.

Requirements

  • Experience in a 2nd or 3rd line IT support role (MSP experience strongly beneficial)
  • Strong troubleshooting ability across Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Defender, Conditional Access)
  • Solid networking fundamentals: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, firewall concepts
  • Windows Server administration experience (Active Directory, Group Policy, core services)
  • Endpoint support across Windows and macOS environments
  • Comfortable acting as an escalation point and mentoring junior engineers
  • Clear communication skills and the confidence to escalate when needed
  • Able to manage multiple priorities independently in a remote setup
  • Matric / Grade 12 required

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft or CompTIA certifications
  • Experience with MSP tools, RMM platforms, or PSA systems
  • IT certifications or tertiary qualification advantageous, but not essential
