2601 QC Outside Quality Inspector (Temporary)

About the position

We have an opening for a Temporary Outside Quality Inspector on Night Shift. The role involves evaluating and testing fresh and brined stock to ensure adherence to standards and specifications, as well as assisting with tallying fresh cucumbers that are tanked.

Responsibilities

• Inspect trucks and trailers for cleanliness upon unloading and loading.
• Visually inspect every container of stock as it is unloaded off the truck or trailer.
• Drive up to 5 miles per day during work hours to offsite unloading facilities.
• Obtain samples of cucumbers and other raw materials upon arrival at the plant.
• Visually and manually observe sizing, firmness, and quality of stock.
• Obtain samples of brined stock from barrels or other containers and perform various tests including acidity, % salt or salometer, pH, sizing and other tests.
• Obtain samples from Outside Production grading and washing operations to determine adherence to standards regarding size and quality.
• Ensure all required samples have been obtained and analyzed.
• Document results of all sampling and testing on proper forms.
• Report deviations to Supervisor in department 2600.
• Record information for the tanking of individual tanks of fresh cucumbers.
• Record information related to the tanking and storage of cucumbers and file the information in the appropriate locations.
• Evaluate stock brined during the year for sizing and quality issues.
• Evaluate purchased brine stock to be sold for quality to help determine disposition.
• Inform supervisors and others of deviations from specifications.
• Enter data for all incoming inspections into the electronic database in a timely manner.
• Keep work area clean and neat.
• Follow safety rules and company policies.
• May occasionally assist other Outside Production employees or be assigned to work in Cutting Department.

Requirements

• High school graduate plus additional training needed.
• Ability to read, write and speak English required.
• Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and fractions needed for job tasks.
• Neat handwriting preferred for completing forms by hand.
• Basic computer knowledge is essential.
