The Department of Accounting invites applicants for a 9-month full-time, tenure-track, Assistant/Associate Professor of Accounting position. The appointment rank will be commensurate with the selected finalist's experience, expertise, and training. The position begins in August 2026. West Chester University, a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, is a public, comprehensive institution committed to offering high-quality undergraduate education, selected post-baccalaureate and graduate programs, and a variety of educational and cultural resources for its students, alumni, and citizens of southeastern Pennsylvania. The University offers more than one hundred graduate and undergraduate programs in the sciences and mathematics, business and public management, arts and humanities, health sciences, education and social work, music, and interdisciplinary studies. The College of Business and Public Management is an AACSB accredited school with the Master of Public Administration accredited by NASPAA. The Department of Accounting, within the College of Business and Public Management, works to successfully launch students into the accounting field. The department incorporates social responsibility into its curriculum and is a signatory school of Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME).

Requirements

  • Ph.D in Accounting or DBA (Doctorate in Business Administration) from an AACSB accredited program. ABD may be considered - must be completed prior to position start date.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching accounting at the undergraduate level.
  • Record of active scholarly activities such as, but not limited to, research, presentations, and publications.
  • Possess industry licensure and/or certification, such as CPA, CMA.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Accounting. Additional courses within area of specialization may be assigned based on departmental needs.
  • Engage in scholarly activities such as research, presentations, and publications. This is necessary for tenure and promotion.
  • Advise and mentor students, as well as maintain required office hours.
  • Serve the Department, College, and the University through participation in committees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
