About The Position

The Office Work Experience Trainee is a temporary work experience position that provides the participant an opportunity to learn the basic tasks and skills of the position. Participants are placed at a variety of work sites and each experience is unique in skills attainment. Participants selected for this work experience must meet program requirements and will train for a predetermined number of hours.

Responsibilities

  • Performs office duties in support of an assigned department or division.
  • Receives and directs telephone calls and visitors.
  • Provides information on department or division services and operations.
  • Assists in managing the flow and preparation of paperwork.
  • Acts as a receptionist; answers the telephone and provides information on department policies and procedures.
  • Maintains a variety of files and records in assigned department; files in accordance with establishing filing system.
  • Provides customer service, information, referrals and assistance to the general public and other departments.
  • Collects, sorts, posts, adds, and modifies accurate data as necessary for tracking purposes into respective databases systems and/or processes.
  • Records and updates directories as needed.
  • Orders, receives and organizes materials and supplies.
  • Maintains, requests, and cancels vendors' services as needed.
  • Sorts and distributes internal and external correspondence appropriately.
  • Precisely prepares and tracks outgoing mail.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
