About The Position

The Special Education Aide will assist the special education teacher in providing for the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in both special education and regular education settings throughout the school environment. The aide will help implement classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs, working under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher. Additionally, the aide will provide assistance to students identified as at risk.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or two years of study at an institution of higher education (completion of 48 semester hours or equivalent trimester hours) or have met formal academic assessment as required by the Every Student Succeeds ACT (ESSA).
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.

Nice To Haves

• Some experience working with children, preferred.
