About The Position

The Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) is seeking motivated and energetic applicants for the Physical Education/Health Teacher Pool for the 2025-2026 school year. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) teaching license in Physical Education and Adaptive Physical Education and/or Health.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Hmong for bilingual positions.

Responsibilities

  • Identify learning targets based on standards (CCSS, SELS, Language) for student instruction.
  • Use knowledge of students' backgrounds and assessment data to inform lesson planning.
  • Develop daily and weekly lesson plans to support student growth towards mastery of standards.
  • Create year-long/course plans that identify essential questions and resources for student learning.
  • Establish clear objectives for lessons and communicate them to students.
  • Instruct students using various teaching methods to enhance engagement and independence.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet diverse student needs.
  • Provide opportunities for students to articulate their reasoning and engage in meaningful discussions.
  • Plan formative assessments to demonstrate student learning.
  • Utilize multiple methods to check for student understanding and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Provide meaningful feedback to students to promote involvement and progress.
  • Facilitate feedback opportunities among students and between students and teachers.
  • Analyze data to adjust instruction based on student achievement and observations.
  • Establish rules and procedures for maintaining order in the classroom.
  • Meet with parents/guardians to discuss student progress and resource needs.
  • Collaborate with staff to support student learning.
