The Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences & Technology seeks students as Graduate Assistants. Appointments are contingent upon adequate funding. GA applicants typically assist faculty in conducting special projects/research within the discipline or academic environment; assisting faculty in conducting authorized research; and/or assisting faculty in evaluating student work and examinations. The department reserves the right to choose the most qualified candidate for each position and to assign Graduate Assistants to the courses or duties that are appropriate for the department program and curriculum in any given semester. Due to staff and curriculum changes, appointments may vary, and no guarantee of employment from semester to semester can be made. Anticipated Appointment Dates: This position is opened until filled. If you have applied and no other positions are available, you will be notified. Fall 2025: August 18, 2025 - December 22, 2025; Spring 2026: January 15, 2026 - May 22, 2026.

  • Provide professional non-teaching assistance to faculty members
  • Provide research assistance and practical experience in fields related to their advanced study
  • May involve supervising students in a classroom, workshop, or laboratory (final responsibility is vested in a member of the faculty)
  • Provide training students in the use of equipment or other resources
  • Assist faculty with research and preparation of course materials
  • Participate in evaluation of students' work
  • Tutoring students
  • Minimum GPA 3.0; Applicants with a 3.5 or higher are preferred
  • Possession of an approved baccalaureate degree, and fully admitted to a master's program in the college
  • International students must have a TOEFL score of 600 or better
  • Must enroll in at least 6 units (three of which must be graduate units) for the semester or in two courses applicable to program of study
  • Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic background
  • Ability to relate well with others within the academic environment and have the ability or potential to learn how to instruct and evaluate students
  • Ability to assist faculty in the conduct of special projects/research within the discipline
  • Communication skills appropriate to the instructional setting
  • Evidence of subject matter competence
  • Experience in a closely-related discipline
  • Ability and willingness to work with computers including common word-processing software, and computer and Internet-based language teaching technology
  • Part-time work on campus limited to 20 hours per week
