About the position

The Computer Aide II assists the campus staff in maintaining the computer lab. This role involves maintaining, operating, and servicing all hardware and software in the computer lab, helping tutor students on the computer during the school day, and assisting in special areas such as Title I and at-risk students. The Computer Aide troubleshoots classroom printers and computers, provides information to school personnel regarding computer equipment and programs, and consults with the Campus Technologist about ordering supplies for the computer lab. Additionally, the aide installs software as needed, prepares software for daily use, maintains an inventory of available software, manages student scheduling for computer time, and assists teachers and students with proper handling of equipment. Compliance with Texas Education Agency and KISD educator standards of conduct is required, along with performing other tasks as assigned by the Campus Technologist or Principal.

Responsibilities

  • Consults with the Campus Technologist about ordering supplies for the computer lab.
  • Installs software, as needed.
  • Selects and prepares software for use in advance of each day's schedule.
  • Assists the Campus Technologist in maintaining an inventory and file of all available software.
  • Helps manage and schedule students for computer time in classes.
  • Assists teachers and students with proper handling of equipment.
  • Complies with Texas Education Agency and KISD educator standards of conduct.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Campus Technologist or Principal.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Two years verifiable experience as an educational aide or related experience.
  • 48 hours of accredited college credit with emphasis in child growth and development for Title I campuses.
  • State Board for Educator Certification for Educational Aide II.
