About The Position

The Department of Recreation Administration provides five option areas with a BS in Recreation Administration. The department has strong programs in community and youth, special events and tourism, outdoor recreation, recreation therapy and sport and entertainment facility management. The department is committed to community engagement. The Department of Recreation Administration is one of seven departments in the College of Health and Human Services. The College of Health and Human Services is proud to be recognized as one of the best programs in the state, taking pride in offering students a wide array of experiences that helps young professionals embark on successful careers and provides opportunities for alumni to stay connected to their alma mater. The successful applicant may teach recreation, tourism, outdoor recreation, special event, sport and entertainment facility management courses. The department seeks qualified candidate(s) to teach undergraduate courses such as: RA 117 (Special Events and Tourism) RA 131 (Foundations of Special Events and Tourism) or other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill educational goals of current students.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Recreation and Parks Administration or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence built on merit, talent, diversity, accessibility, and equal opportunity for all.

Nice To Haves

  • A PhD/EdD in Recreation Parks and Tourism.
  • A commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, which may be exhibited through prior teaching experiences and teaching evaluations or other evidence.
  • Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and implement university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual.
  • Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams.
  • Ensure all classes are offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester, in the assigned mode (i.e. asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).

  • Compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience within salary range placement.
  • Salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master's degree is $5,507-6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs).
