The position involves responsibilities in three main areas: Teaching/Advising, Program and Faculty Development, and Other Related Activities. In Teaching/Advising, the role includes interviewing candidates for program admission, advising them, developing a supportive cohort, guiding online learning through the CalStateTEACH curriculum, and providing feedback on their progress towards meeting Teaching Performance Expectations (TPEs). Responsibilities also include making field placements, supervising classroom instruction, and participating in regional seminars. In Program and Faculty Development, the candidate will attend faculty meetings, serve on committees, contribute to curriculum development, and stay updated on technologies used in the program. Other related activities involve recruitment and outreach, collaboration with local school districts, and participation in professional conferences. Selected candidates will be hired as lecturers by the CSU campus affiliated with the Regional Center, with salaries commensurate with experience.

  • Interview candidates for program admission.
  • Advise candidates and develop a supportive cohort.
  • Guide candidates' online learning through the CalStateTEACH curriculum.
  • Support candidates in learning, practicing, and reflecting on Teaching Performance Expectations (TPEs).
  • Provide feedback on candidates' progress towards meeting TPEs.
  • Conduct formative and summative assessments of classroom performance and written work.
  • Make field placements to meet credential requirements.
  • Supervise site-based classroom instruction.
  • Serve as liaison to school-site personnel.
  • Participate in the selection and support of site-based mentor teachers.
  • Support candidates needing CSET preparation.
  • Participate in planning and delivery of regional seminars.
  • Facilitate cohort meetings during Saturday seminars.
  • Attend regional and statewide faculty meetings.
  • Serve on regional and statewide committees.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and revision.
  • Achieve and maintain calibration on CalTPA Tasks.
  • Become an expert in the CalStateTEACH curriculum and online instruction.
  • Stay abreast of developing technologies in the CalStateTEACH program.
  • Contact potential candidates and participate in recruitment activities.
  • Collaborate with local school districts for clinical placements.
  • Master's degree in education or related field.
  • Teacher leadership or administrative experience in public schools with appropriate certification.
  • Residence in assigned sub-region.
  • Ability to travel within subregion to candidates' clinical placements.
  • Understanding of adult learning theory.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, advise, supervise, and evaluate candidates from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to independent student-centered learning.
  • Organized and systematic approach to work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team and make independent judgments.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Commitment to personal and professional lifelong learning.
  • Willingness to be available and accessible to candidates.

  • Experience supervising elementary school teachers.
