The members of the Department of Public Safety endeavors to foster an atmosphere in which officers provide a prompt, professional presence to remain aware of and responsive to the diverse community in which they serve, while justly enforcing the rules and regulations of the University and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Dispatch Center fields about 20,000 phone calls for assistance annually. Additionally, Communications personnel are responsible for coordinating supplementary external emergency response such as fire and emergency medical services. The Communications Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year regardless of semester breaks and holidays. The Security Officer Dispatcher is responsible for police, security, and maintenance dispatch duties in the Dispatch Center. The selected candidate must be able to obtain CLEAN (Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network), JNET (PA Justine Network) and CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) certifications and successfully complete background checks.
