About The Position

The HVAC Technologies Instructor is responsible for instruction, classroom/lab management, discipline, inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies, controlling lab projects, ordering and recording purchase of supplies and equipment, supporting board policies and growth, public relations, and representing Northeast Technology Center in a professional manner at all times. Instructors will work in a team situation with other instructors to train students to develop successful trade skills. The position is full-time, 10-month staff, exempt certified teacher role, based at the Claremore Campus, with a starting date of August 1, 2025.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical Unlimited Journeyman's License or Contractors' License required.
  • Must qualify for a standard or provisional Teaching Certificate as defined by the Oklahoma Department of Education.
  • Minimum five years of journeyman experience in the residential and/or commercial HVAC industry.
  • Experience teaching high school and/or adult students in a lab-type environment is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and human relations skills.
  • Proficiency in record keeping, prioritizing, and scheduling.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a teaching role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all state and federal laws, policies, and procedures of the school district.
  • Ensure a pleasant, safe, and orderly climate for learning in the classroom.
  • Upgrade teaching techniques, learning styles, and technology methodologies.
  • Work cooperatively with staff to develop, promote, and improve educational services.
  • Establish and maintain efficient controls for expenditures of school funds.
  • Teach and perform assigned duties consistent with district standards.
  • Provide individualized and group instruction utilizing various instructional techniques.
  • Monitor student progress and recognize academic achievements.
  • Schedule industry speakers to inform students of opportunities.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly classroom, lab/shop room, and office space.
  • Organize daily student assignments to minimize disciplinary action.
  • Conduct inventory of tools and equipment before the start of school.
  • Assist students in developing job readiness skills and finding jobs in the field.
