About The Position

The position involves surveying and assessing the anatomy and pathophysiology of the heart and great vessels using cardiac ultrasound in both adult and pediatric patients. The successful candidate must possess the technical knowledge and creative ability to manipulate and use ultrasound instruments to produce clinically useful diagnostic information. A strong background in ultrasound physics, instrumentation, and clinical utility is essential, along with knowledge of anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics, and pathology of the cardiovascular system. Responsibilities include performing adult and/or pediatric trans-thoracic echocardiograms, trans-esophageal echocardiograms, and stress echocardiograms, maintaining required competencies, and participating in research projects with preliminary reporting to cardiologists.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in allied health, applied science, or completion of a certificate program is required.
  • 2 years of cardiac sonography/ultrasound experience is required.
  • Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in allied health or applied sciences is preferred.
  • Specialty certification in adult echocardiography or pediatric echocardiography is preferred.
  • 7 years of sonography/ultrasound experience (with 2 years in cardiac sonography/ultrasound) if meeting the education equivalency.

Responsibilities
