About The Position

The Health Technician plays a crucial role in supporting student success through health service activities within Pueblo City Schools. This position involves providing clerical support to the school nurse and delivering medical and procedural assistance to students as delegated by the registered nurse. The Health Technician is integral to maintaining a safe and healthy school environment, ensuring that students receive the necessary care and support for their health needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • 6 months previous experience working with children, schools, or health programs.
  • Verified First Aid training and recertification card within 60 days of hire.
  • Verified CPR training and recertification card within 60 days of hire.
  • Yearly medication training update.
  • Completion of a fingerprint-based criminal background check.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in meeting basic health needs of children by administering first aid and medications as delegated by the school nurse.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid certifications and follow appropriate procedures to respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Document communications regarding student illness or injury to parents, school nurse, and administrators.
  • Assist with vision and hearing screenings and maintain health records.
  • Collaborate with the school nurse to prepare medications and first aid supplies for field trips.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly health office and manage health office supplies.
