About The Position
The Huffman Independent School District is seeking substitute teachers for the 2024-2025 school year. The position involves filling in for regular teachers who are absent, with varying pay scales based on the qualifications of the substitute. Long-term substitutes are defined as those who substitute for the same teacher for more than ten consecutive days, and they will receive a higher pay rate if they hold a baccalaureate degree or a teaching certificate. Permanent substitutes are those hired to fill a vacancy for a semester or school year and must hold a baccalaureate degree, preferably with a teaching certificate. They will be compensated based on the state salary base, excluding local increments for experience. Additionally, substitutes in vacant positions may meet the requirements for membership in the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) under certain conditions.
