About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position is responsible for monitoring and providing medical care to students requiring constant supervision during the school day. The role involves assisting with medical procedures, administering medications, and ensuring the overall health and safety of students in a school environment.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited LPN program and licensed by the NC Board of Nursing.
• Experience in pediatrics.
• Ability to assist children with medical procedures during the school day, including tracheostomy care.

Responsibilities

• Monitors students' medical status during the school day.
• Enters medical information into EZ Ed Med.
• Provides and/or assists with medical procedures as ordered by the Physician during the school day.
• Observes skin for bed sores.
• Provides and assists students with personal care needs during the day.
• Administers medication prescribed by a physician.
• Notifies Health Services Director or Lead Nurse of changes in student's health status.
• Notifies Health Services Director or Lead Nurse of changes in individual caregiver's health status.
• Notifies Health Services Director or Lead Nurse when absences may occur to determine coverage for students.
• Moves patients safely.
• Monitors fluid and food intake and output.
• Performs special procedures as directed.
• Serves as a team player and role model for other employees in the organization.
• Demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
• Supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer-driven, and valuing diversity.
• Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
